American · PANTRYHOP RECIPE

Honey roasted almonds

20 minutes · 4 servings · vegetarian

A simple American-style sweet snack, like the candied nuts sold at fairs and markets.

Ingredients

Check you have the quantities below.

  • 2 cups whole almonds
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Let’s make it

  1. Heat the oven to 325°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Warm honey, butter, salt, and cinnamon in a small saucepan just until melted; stir in the almonds.
  3. Spread the almonds on the sheet in a single layer.
  4. Bake 10 to 12 minutes, stirring once, until fragrant and lightly toasted.
  5. Cool completely before breaking apart and serving.

Once cooled, kids can help portion the nuts into small snack cups.

Cooking time varies with equipment and batch size. Follow school allergy rules for children’s meals; keep perishable lunches cold.
