Ingredients

Check you have the quantities below.

  • 1 1/2 lb (700 g) ground beef or lamb
  • 1 medium onion, grated
  • 1/2 cup parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 medium potatoes, sliced
  • 2 medium tomatoes, sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup water

Let’s make it

  1. Heat oven to 200 C/400 F.
  2. Mix meat with onion, parsley, allspice, salt, and pepper; press into a baking dish.
  3. Layer potatoes and tomatoes on top, then drizzle with olive oil and water.
  4. Bake 45-50 minutes until the meat is fully cooked to 71 C/160 F and the potatoes are tender.
  5. Rest 5 minutes before serving.

Press the meat mixture into an even layer so children can eat neat squares.

Cooking time varies with equipment and batch size. Follow school allergy rules for children’s meals; keep perishable lunches cold.
