Tahinli Pide with Sausage or Cheese

45 minutes · 4 servings · omnivore

Inspired by Turkish bakery pide, with a home-friendly tahini topping.

Ingredients

Check you have the quantities below.

  • 500 g ready-made pide dough
  • 1/3 cup tahini
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups white cheese or cooked sucuk slices
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Let’s make it

  1. Heat the oven to 220 C / 425 F.
  2. Roll the dough into 2 ovals and spread tahini mixed with olive oil over the centers.
  3. Top with cheese or cooked sucuk, leaving the edges bare, and crack an egg in the center if using.
  4. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the dough is browned and the egg is cooked through.
  5. Serve hot.

Use the cheese version for a milder child-friendly option and cut into small pieces.

Cooking time varies with equipment and batch size. Follow school allergy rules for children’s meals; keep perishable lunches cold.
