Tavuk Döner Wraps

35 minutes · 4 servings · omnivore

Inspired by Turkish döner, using a quick skillet method instead of a rotating spit.

Ingredients

Check you have the quantities below.

  • 600 g boneless chicken thighs, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 4 flatbreads or lavash
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 2 cups lettuce
  • 1/2 cup garlic yogurt or plain yogurt

Let’s make it

  1. Mix yogurt, oil, garlic, salt, paprika, and cumin with the chicken and rest 15 minutes.
  2. Cook the chicken in a hot skillet over medium-high heat for 8 to 10 minutes until browned and it reaches 74 C / 165 F.
  3. Warm the flatbreads and fill with lettuce, tomatoes, chicken, and yogurt sauce.
  4. Roll up and serve.
  5. Let the chicken rest 3 minutes before assembling.

Cut the chicken into small pieces and keep the sauce plain for younger children.

Cooking time varies with equipment and batch size. Follow school allergy rules for children’s meals; keep perishable lunches cold.
