15 minutes · 2 servings · omnivore

A very simple Korean-style breakfast bowl based on rice and egg.

Ingredients

Check you have the quantities below.

  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp butter or neutral oil
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 scallion, sliced
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds

Let’s make it

  1. Warm the rice in bowls or a skillet.
  2. Fry the eggs in butter or oil until the whites are fully set and yolks are cooked as desired for kids.
  3. Top rice with eggs, a little soy sauce, sesame oil, scallion, and sesame seeds.
  4. Serve immediately.

This is easy to customize with a fully cooked egg and plain rice.

Cooking time varies with equipment and batch size. Follow school allergy rules for children’s meals; keep perishable lunches cold.
