  • 1/2 cup custard powder
  • 2 cups milk or water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 8 Nigerian buns (store-bought or homemade)

Let’s make it

  1. Mix custard powder with 1/2 cup of the milk or water to make a smooth slurry.
  2. Heat the remaining liquid in a saucepan until steaming, then whisk in the slurry.
  3. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring, until thick and glossy; add sugar and salt.
  4. Serve hot with buns on the side.
  5. If the custard gets too thick, whisk in a splash more liquid.

Serve the custard in a cup with the buns for easy dipping.
