Check you have the quantities below.

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup / 60 ml crème fraîche or heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup / 25 g grated cheese
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Let’s make it

  1. Heat the oven to 375 F / 190 C. Butter 4 small ramekins.
  2. Add a spoonful of cream to each ramekin, then crack in an egg.
  3. Top with cheese, salt, and pepper. Place ramekins in a baking dish with hot water halfway up the sides.
  4. Bake 12 to 15 minutes until the whites are fully set. Garnish with chives and serve.

Bake until the yolks are as set as your family prefers.
